Welcome to Peacemeal
Peacemeal shines a light on the inspiring work of peacebuilders through the universal language of food and connection.
We believe peace begins in the simplest of ways, with a shared meal, a heartfelt story exchanged across the table, a conversation that crosses differences, nourished by the act of communal eating.
We create spaces where people from all walks of life gather to listen, connect, and build community through the power of food. Join us as we share nourishing meals, share stories, and share hope, one conversation at a time, cultivating peace.
We are engaged in a range of peace building initiatives relating to food. Intergenerational meals in communities to share meals and stories of the past to the future; fundraisers to raise awareness of certain issues or community needs.
Peacemeal: Nourishing Hope through Culinary Stories of Peacebuilding in Times of Conflict
In the (soon to be published!) Peacemeal book we embark on a transformative journey into the kitchens of global peacebuilders who reveal the profound connection between food, conflict, and peace. Each contributor shares a personal narrative that illustrates the role of food in their lives and their commitment to fostering a more peaceful and equitable world.
Delve into powerful accounts of nonviolent resistance and innovative approaches to addressing injustice, all while discovering the diverse and rich cultural tapestries woven through shared meals. As you explore these heartfelt narratives, you'll find that food transcends its basic function, becoming a beacon of hope in the face of adversity.
Peacemeal is not just a cookbook; it is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the transformative power of food in our collective quest for peace. Join us in this delicious revolution, where every meal becomes a step toward a more peaceful future.
The book is in progress - we'll keep you updated!
Read about the Project and come to know some of our contributors - read blogs about peacebuilders and their work. It's a taste of what is in the Peace-Meal book!
The Blog Space is available for our readers and community to also contribute to Peace-Meal!
In 2022 with funding from the Jan de Voogd Trust, we hosted dinners for the Australian Afghan and Myanmar community recognising their daily peacebuilding and community support efforts; and hosting childrens workshops exploring food and peace.
